Funchal hat ein sehr mildes subtropisches Klima, das ganzjährig in etwa gleich bleibt. Das Klima kann jedoch nach Niederschlagsmengen in zwei Jahreszeiten geteilt werden. Von Oktober bis März ist es in Funchal etwas feuchter mit Tageshöchsttemperaturen zwischen 20 und 25 Grad. Wärmer und trockener ist es von April bis September. Dann liegen die Tagesdurchschnittstemperaturen bei bis zu 26 Grad. Die Wassertemperaturen reichen von 18 Grad im Februar bis 24 Grad im September. Auf Grund ihrer Lage am Berg gibt es in Funchal oft Bewölkung.
